Overview
Jamie Rosen is Partner and Chair of the Firm’s Mental Health Law Group, dedicated to representing individuals and families struggling with serious mental illness and/or alcohol/substance use disorders.
Jamie’s knowledge extends to inpatient hospitalization matters including retention and treatment over objection hearings as well as consultation and advice regarding discharge planning. In the community setting, she is well-versed in applications for Assisted Outpatient Treatment (also known as Kendra’s Law), a valuable tool for individuals who refuse medication and/or mental health services and are frequently hospitalized. Her practice also includes representation of clients in adult guardianship proceedings (Mental Hygiene Law Article 81), Mental Hygiene Warrant proceedings, Family Court Order of Protection matters, housing rights, criminal defense, estate planning, and so much more. Recognizing that these complicated mental health issues require a team approach, she collaborates with many healthcare and mental health professionals to develop the best clinical plan and legal course of action.
Jamie is also a member of the Firm’s Taxation & Estates and Litigation Groups. The practice encompasses all aspects of estate planning, including wills, trusts, health care proxies and powers of attorney, probate and administration matters, and related disputes in Surrogate’s Court.
