Overview
Joy Jankunas is a seasoned attorney with a legal career spanning over two decades, marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep dedication to the practice of Matrimonial and Family law. As a Partner at Meister, Seelig, & Fein, Ms. Jankunas provides counsel to individuals on a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, equitable distribution, child custody, child and spousal support, and prenuptial/postnuptial agreements. Her comprehensive approach to client representation encompasses all aspects of legal advocacy, from court appearances and motion practice to settlement negotiation and trial representation. Ms. Jankunas also serves as a neutral family law mediator, offering her clients alternative dispute resolution options.
Ms. Jankunas is a member of the Matrimonial Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and regularly contributes her expertise to the Nassau County Bar Association’s Open House walk-in clinics. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her pro bono work, including the Nassau County Bar Association’s “Access to Justice” recognition and Hofstra University’s “Outstanding Women in the Law” Award. She is also a published author in legal publications, co-authoring articles on topics ranging from electronic filing in family court to Foreign Corrupt Practices Act issues in corporate investigations.
Prior to joining MSF, Ms. Jankunas was a Partner at Abrams Fensterman and previously served as a Senior Staff Attorney at Sanctuary for Families, NYC’s largest provider of legal services to victims of domestic violence. Her work in these roles focused on matrimonial and family law, where she handled complex legal matters in both NYS Supreme and Family Courts.
Before transitioning her practice to matrimonial and family law, Ms. Jankunas represented individual and corporate clients in Federal and State criminal and administrative governmental inquiries and prosecutions as an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Her experience in white-collar defense and investigations further enhances her skill set and insight into complex legal matters.
