Marie Kessel is an Associate in the Intellectual Property Group at Meister Seelig & Fein PLLC, focusing on trademark and copyright matters, as well as corporate law.  Ms. Kessel earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, with a concentration in Intellectual Property and Information Law. During law school, Ms. Kessel served as Co-President of the Artist Representation Society and was actively involved in the Dispute Resolution Society, competing in the ABA Arbitration DRS competition. She was also a member of the Fordham Intellectual Property Media & Entertainment Law Journal, in which she published a note on the right of publicity and copyright implications generated from hologram performance.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Kessel gained valuable experience as a Summer Associate at MSF, where she honed her legal research and writing skills across various litigation and transactional matters.  She also has previous experience as a Legal Extern at the New York City Law Department’s Environmental Law Division, where she worked at the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice, and as a Summer Associate and Legal Intern at Lee Anav Chung White Kim Ruger & Richter LLP, where she gained valuable experience in commercial litigation.

Ms. Kessel has long had an interest in intellectual property.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she focused on Art Law, specifically, authentication, valuation, and ethics.  She has also published articles on art law, including a discussion on failed restorations and a review of the New York Artists’ Authorship Act, during her time as an intern at the Center for Art Law.
