This workshop will first provide a high level overview of basic intellectual property law concepts. This knowledge is useful for anyone developing a start-up, launching a new digital application, or just interested in intellectual property laws as it applies to new digital products.
The presenters will present a case study to illustrate specific copyright, patent and trademark concepts and provide practical guidance on how to address legal issues in developing the site/app, including overcoming obstacles related to monetization, content accumulation, development and distribution, collection of personal information from users, licensing and brand protection.
